Membership

When you join the YMCA of Lunenburg County you are more than just a member—you are part of the family.

Benefits

Your YMCA membership includes:

• Full access to one of the best YMCA conditioning centers in Eastern Canada.
• Full access to all our cardiovascular equipment including treadmills, stationary bikes, Ellipticals, rowing machine, steppers and Arc trainers.
• Full access to all group fitness classes including Pilates and Group Cycling.
• Complimentary sessions with a YMCA trainer.
• Full use of sauna, showers and free daily lockers.
• Scheduled use of NSCC gymnasium which includes team sports such as volleyball, basketball and badminton.
• Access to other YMCA's.

Fees

Effective Jan 1, 2008

All fees are based on a pre-authorized payment plan and are subject to 15%HST.

Prepayment Discount

Members in all categories of membership, who pay their annual fee (12 months) in one shot—at the beginning of the year applicable to their membership—will receive a 10% discount.

Building Enhancement Fund

As of June 1, 2006, there is a $50 Building Enhancement Fund Contribution for all new adult, older adult and post-secondary student members in order to help provide quality and upgraded facilities and equipment to enhance the YMCA of Lunenburg County experience. This replaces the Joiner Fees.

The Building Enhancement Fund Contribution is a once in a membership charge, unless an individual's membership lapses for one year or more, depending on circumstances.

Those who have to interrupt their membership for more than 60 days during the year will be charged a $20 Continuous Membership Fee to re-establish their membership privileges.

Financial Assistance: Opportunity Fund

The YMCA Opportunity Fund is one vehicle through which the YMCA fulfills its mission in being open to everyone. Financial assistance is available for those who feel they would benefit from joining the YMCA but are financially unable, not unwilling, to pay the full membership fee. No one is turned away for the lack of ability to pay.

In 2003-04 over $1,500 in financial assistance was provided to people who joined the YMCA through our sponsored membership program.

Assistance will be granted on the basis of demonstrated financial need. The understanding is that financial assistance is TEMPORARY and reviews are required on a 3, 6 or 12-month basis, depending on the applicants' circumstances. It's easy to apply for financial assistance. Pick up an application at the Membership Sales and Service desk.

All files and information will be kept strictly confidential.

Payment Options & Methods

YMCA memberships are generally paid on a pre-authorized payment plan where your monthly rate (plus HST) is automatically deducted from your bank account, VISA or MasterCard.

Other options include paying for one year at a time or making post-dated payments at the time of purchase.

Cash, cheque, Interac® (debit), VISA® or MasterCard® are accepted methods of payment.

Hold Policy

YMCA Lunenburg County memberships may be put on hold from 1–6 months due to work related, medical or school (work placement) reasons.

With Pre-Authorized Payments all payments will continue; however, the months you missed will be added to your expiry date.

If two or more NSF charges occur, your membership will automatically be cancelled and accumulated time will NOT be given.
